What does the Thyroid do? What are the side effects of an over active & under active Thyroid?
I've had a thyroid function test and the results showed it was lower then it should be, so they took more blood and are doing a T3 and Tsomething test, they said I probably have an over active thyroid....

- if you are obese this is one of the things they check for, so watch out thats probably a side effect, so eat heathy goodluck to you

I orig went to see my Dr coz I've been feeling so terirbly tired and sleepy and have had no energy at all and despite my very active job and watching what I eat, I'm not losing any weight at all, I am of a medium weight so its not a huge deal but I found it a little strange.

- I don't know what the difference is the truth is I have a thyroid problem since I was little but nobody ever really explained it to me. I take a medicine for it though levothyroid or levothroid, synthroid. I think I have the type where your body doesn't make enough. The other is where you make too much. Well the effects that I have experianced is that you loose hair (a little if you don't get it treated) weight gain, weight loss, tired, fatiqued. It all gets better after you get on pills. But the side effects of pills can be constipation, headaches when its not balance some others. It is a hassle for me but others are just fine with it. I just don't like taking pills and forget sometimes and I always have to keep it in check to make sure its balanced.
