  1. Like no way itll work? Hmm, I know a LOT of people who are on thyroid medication....but I don't know if its dead-dead.....
Best bet, talk to your doctor, they will know all about your personal situation, and will tell you, what, if any, solution there is.

(Hate to ask the stupid-- but how about excerise--best metabolism booster there is, and if you build muscle, itll burn more calories than fat :)
  2. Because your thyroid was esentially removed(but instead it's radiated) you are battling an battle that is all uphill. Hopefully you are on thyroid replacement medication(Synthroid, Armour, Cytomel, Levoxyl). Once your thyroid hormone levels are within a normal range and you're feeling good, you can talk to your doctor about different ways to lose weight. I had my thyroid removed due to cancer and face the same problem everyday, but the doctor can't even regulate my medications and hormone levels after 3 years.

I do know of people who have had success in adding in weight loss medication to kickstart their metabolism. Their medical doctors will sometimes prescribe Phentamine for them, but it must be monitered very closely.
