  1. I'm right there w/ ya. I had radio active iodine to eat away at my over active thyroid about 10 years ago & have been underactive ever since.
Don't worry. It's not a major deal. I get bloodwork done every 4 weeks. Your levels WILL change Mine changed 3 times so far.
Your Endocrinologist will have to keep your OB informed, but as long as your keep up on your bloodwork, you'll be fine :)
  2. I'm 28 weeks pregnant with Hypo-thyroidism (Hashimotos disease) and have been on synthroid since I was 12 years old! (.125 dosage). When I became pregnant my endocrinologist raised my synthroid to .167 and now its at .175.
Dont worry .. as long as you are getting your thyroid checked (I get mine checked every 6 weeks) ..everything will be fine! It is CRITICAL that you get your thyroid checked throughout the ENTIRE pregnancy ... you're baby is very dependant on your thyroid!

    good luck! God bless!
  3. Has any one here been throught the same experience as this,,pls help I just want to know how bad it is
  4. I'm an OB/Gyn
  5. I feel really guilty and concerned as the midwife said they might take the baby after birth to intensive care and I am really scared about it.
  6. Underactive thyroid, or hypothyroidism, is really not a major issue during pregnancy. If you have an elevated TSH, then you should be put on thyroid hormone(synthroid) and then have your levels checked every 1-2 months during the pregnancy.

Some experts don't even think you need to be very aggressive in adjusting hormone levels during pregnancy.

I would suggest seeing an Ob/Gyn or Endocrinologist, midwifes are usually not trained to deal with higher risk pregnancies.
  7. I am scared about the baby as I ve been told that it could have a chance of having the same problem as mine,
