I never have any physical energy, and it's not my thyroid what else could it be?

I am 20 years old, with a toddler and an infant and although that sounds like a daunting job, honestly I really don't do much. I get up and get them whatever it is that they want or need but most of the day they are satisfied to just play together or with toys, and I sit on the couch and get can't seem to get motivated no matter what I do. I eat relatively healthy, (no fast food) although I don't consume more than 1800 calories a day because I know I won't even use that much in a day. I can barely even get out of bed in the morning. I've tried going to bed earlier, going to bed later, using caffeine, getting my thyroid checked by the doctor several times, taking a daily vitamin, everything I can think of and I just can't seem to get any energy to do anything. Doesn't help that I'm overweight from having children and don't have the energy to work out either. HELP!

  1. In addition to the other answers you've gotten. Hormone imbalances other than thyroid can cause chronic fatigue, anemia is a big one, many autoimmune disorders. There are SO many underlying problems that can cause chronic fatigue-- you should seriously address your concerns with you MD who could help you with further testing, evaluation, etc.
  2. you are bored. you need to mix with friends or other Mum's with young children.
it's great that you are eating carefully, but you won't enjoy life just sitting around at home.
where are the friends you used to have coffee with?
can you visit with other people and have them visit you?
how about a trip to the beach or the park?
  3. Check out my chronic fatigue page
  4. Look into chronic fatigue syndrome. Id go see an alternative practicioner like an acupuncturist or a kinesiologist.
  5. anemia...
  6. Have yourself checked for PCOS.
Or sometimes depression can cause a lack of energy.
