  1. I'm 25 and I have hypothyroidism as well as juvenile onset diabetes. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised when we found out we were pregnant but we were also nervous because of my health problems. I took VERY good care of myself while I was pregnant, making sure to keep up with my medications and keeping track of the level of thyroid hormone in my body. I didn't have any difficulties during the pregnancy although I had to have a C-section because I'm a small person and my husband is not and our son took after him, lol. My son is very healthy and growing by leaps and bounds. As long as your wife takes her medication and the pregnancy is followed closely by a doctor there shouldn't be any problem. Good Luck!
  2. hi!I'm 31 and I'm also ttc and have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism.its not a problem at all to conceive provided ur wife's periods are regular and she is ovulating,b'coz thyroid does make the periods crazy and until the thyroid level gets normal, the woman tends to be infertile.if the periods are not regular, there are medicines to help them make regular and ovulate on time.
once she is pregnant, her tsh levels needs to be monitored every 10-12 weeks b'coz docs says that they have to increase the dosage for pregnant women, probably due to the body's growing demands.thyroid deficiency can create birth defects in the baby so having the right dose is important.apart from that, there is a little more risk of miscarriage in such women, but on the whole women do well.and its well worth the effort.I have been searching a lot of info on the net and one such website is www.thyroid.com,there are scores of others.
youe wife is well into the child-bearing age and I am sure you both will be planning for babies very soon.I was very depressed when I was diagnosed with thyroid problem hardly a month back but when I read that there are a lot of women out there who had severe cases than mine and had successful pregnancies,I have cheered up and am on my way to conceive a baby.I wish u luck!
  3. From your question, I guess she has hypo-thyroid coz she is gaining wt. does she has dry skin too ?
Its best to see an Endocrinologist.
She must get the treatment so that her harmon get balanced.
Only after that she should try to conceive.
Its best to take advice from the Endocrinologist.
  4. Hypothyroidism can cause many health issues, but non that can't be managed. She may need to consider a low glycemic diet to control her weight. Having children shouldn't be a problem.
  5. well u should call her doctor and ask them if it would be ok that u both r thinking of having a child what r the risks? Has she already been diagnosed with thyroid problem or r u guessing? Maybe she is already pregnant? But now a days unless it is life threating there is a lot of things to help a woman through pregnancy so good luck best answer would be ask her doctor.
