  1. drink lots of water? I don't know how you can get a dog to do that - how long has it been since the dog ate it? if the vet said ok it should be ok ... was it an emergency vet? the best a vet could do is give it a stomach pump.
  2. I am positive that poison control isn't going to lie to you.. If they say it'll be okay then it's going to be okay.
  3. It depends on the weight of the dog and the strength of the medication. If the dog is fairly large, you should have nothing to worry about. One pill shouldn't be a problem since dogs have thyroid glands just as humans do, and some dogs can even have thyroid disorders as well. I've seen prescriptions compounded for dogs containing the same thyroxine containing drug that you are taking so it is not something that a dog's body will be unable to process.
  4. first 60mg's of any thyroid med is not a normal dose. a high human dose is usually 1mg. you might mean 60 micrograms. which is .6mg. if you called your vet and veterinary poison control and they said it's fine, then the dog is more than likely fine. unless you have had many years of schooling like your vet, or a huge database in front of you like vet. poison control telling you otherwise, then get some sleep. if you dog should start acting lethargic or more likely unusually hyperactive then call your vet back. if you are concerned you can take the dog to the vet in a week or so and have a thyroid level ran to make sure the dog's level has returned to normal. while I wouldn't make a habit of letting your dog accidentally eat any pill, this time you should be safe. follow the advice of your vet and if concerned have a blood level checked in a week or so. and if any behavior concerns you call your vet back. good luck, and it's good you're a concerned pet owner, but you need to trust your vet, they are the dr. here.
  5. Same thing happened to me
  6. If your dog ate only one, it will be fine. There will be a spike in its own thyroid hormone production, but that medicine will be out of his system within 24 hours, and he'll regulate.

If he had eaten several, there would be reason for alarm. He's okay.
  7. I had the same kind of experience. I am on thyroid meds also but...I take levothyroxine, which does the same thing as Armour. Well, my dog got onto my counter and distroyed the whole bottle and the pills. I did the same thing, called vet & poison control. They told me that since it's something we (dogs too) produce naturally anyway that it would be ok, and it was. My dog didn't have any problems from it what so ever. So...I wouldn't worry about it.
