Cat's twitchy behavior?
My six year old female (spayed) indoor cat has been exhibiting strange behavior for the last few months. She will be sound asleep, and all of the sudden jump up, run around, and start shaking her head and wiggling her ears like they are itching her. This also happens sometimes when she is licking her back and hind legs-- her back fur area near her tail will ripple and twitch, she will jump up, and run around, with her ears wiggling. The episodes last for about 5-10 seconds at a time, anywhere from 2-6 times a day. I have taken her to the vet twice in the last month, with no resolution. Her blood tests came back fine; the only thing was a slightly elevated thyroid level (4.1, with 4 being "high normal"). She does not have fleas or ear mites. The vet felt up and down my cat's back, but couldn't find anything wrong. The behavior continues, and it looks like my cat is in distress when it happens (as opposed to the usual "crazy cat" behavior). Any ideas about what might be wrong?

- My cat, Neo, does this too! We took him to the vet and he said he was just fine. They didn't bother doing any tests because other than the behaviour he was his usual Garfield-like self.
It's not the same as the frantic sudden charge around the house - he does that too (and so does the other). But my vet assures me it's still nothing. I find that Neo does it most when he's getting impatient and antsy - especially if we're making him wait for his dinner. It's almost like he's itchy all over for 10 seconds, and then he's fine.
At least we both have the comfort of knowing that there's another cat out there doing the same weird thing!
- Your cat is perfectly normal, thats what they do, it freaks me out till this day, but they do that its like a practice hunt. Take a good look at ur cat when u think its asleep, its not, they pretend then they wake up and run & jump all over the couch, back & fourth throughout the house, then they settle down. Its just what they do. My cat does it at night when were trying to sleep. Aslo if u have an indoor cat its a form of exercise.
- I think that your cat heas fleas cats are not very good with fleas.
- They get hyper at times and it's normal.
