- I have a condition called Hashimoto's. I very often have normal levels. Have your Dr. test you for thyroid antibodies. The test is called Thyroperoxidase AB.
- Typically, an ultrasound is done as well as a fine needle biopsy. My teenage daughter has thyroid cancer and she presented with a nodule on her thyroid. Many nodules are just goiters or benign masses. However, you should definitely get it check. I recommend seeing an endocrinologist who is better versed at the thyroid gland than a primary care physician. Please do not wait to have this looked at. Thyroid cancer is very treatable when detected early. But, hopefully, it is not cancer at all. Best of luck to you!

- When I was a 20 I had a hard fixed thyroid nodule that turned out to be cancerous. I had a complete thyroidectomy. Fortunately it was caught early. My thyroid levels were also normal which, interestingly, is a sign it could be a cancer as benign nodules will usually affect thyroid function. I had a needle biopsy which did not give a definitive diagnosis & I then had to have the surgery.
