- work for a doc and told him and he just said well "I found your weight"....I have made me an appt with internal medicine clinic! I had radiation iodine to my thyroid several years ago. Thanks Charlie, I hope to feel better also...I am worn out too.
- I have hypothyroidism and that makes u gain weight, but HYPERthyroidism makes u lose weight. it really depends on wut thyroid problem you have, if u are hypothyroid and still losing weight, talk to your doctor about adjusting ur meds
- It sounds like you have an overactive thyroid, a friend of mine has the same thing. Has your doctor said anything? he should really be doing more to help you :)
hope your feeling all better soon,
Charlie :)
- The symptoms you are talking about could be from a pituitary disorder. The pituitary gland (master gland) controls the thyroid and other glands. Some of your symptoms sound like low adrenal function and possibly some other hypo issues. You really should see a good Endocrinologist to do a workup on your pituitary function: cortisol, sex hormones, growth hormone, etc.
- I think its just not eating much because thyroid is a illness which doesnt allow u to lose weight no matter how hard u try.
hair thinning shud be cured by eating salmon....
- your thyroid medicine might need some adjusting have another test done
- An under active thyroid will cause weight gain.
An overactive thyroid will cause weight loss.
You are most likely on too high a dose of your meds, talk to your doctor
- Depends if you have a hyper thyroid, over active or a under active hypo active one makes you gain one could make you lose, control/help food is digested
- There are two basic types of thyroid problem. Hypothyroidism (too little thyroid hormome) is probably the most common and people tend to gain weight. Hyperthyroidism (too much thyroid hormone) is likely to cause weight loss.
Maybe you have hyperthyroidism and your medicine isn't working, or maybe you have hypothyroidism and your medicine is working too well. I have pretty good basic knowledge about Anatomy and Physiology, but it's better if you just talk to your doctor. You might have another problem that isn't even related to your thyroid or the medicine.
- Hyper-active thyroid (too active), causes weight loss,
Hypo-active Thyroid (not active enough), causes weight
gain. Check with your Doctor, you will probably find that
your thyroid is Hyper-active.
- I am hypopituitary
