Been hypothyroid for 2 years - sudden weight gain NOW?
I gained 10 lbs in the last 2 mos... have been the same weight for 10 years even with hypothyroidism for the last 2 years that I didn't treat bc the drugs made me sick. Why did the pounds just pack on all of the sudden? My labs are the same as always -- mild hypo - tsh 10 and normal t3/t4 ... am so depressed over this fat :(

- 10 lbs is not that much for the most part. if your numbers are stable keep in mind the spring is just now coming you've probably been less active since winter and our eating habits in general change from season to season especially between winter and summer. cut back on the amout of fat intake and drink lots of water or herbal teas with fruit juice not sugar
- Experience of being hypothyroid
- Please see your doctor. Your TSH is not in the normal range of .3 - 3. This could be where the weight gain is coming from. There are many meds. Levothyroxine is just a hormone that your body already has. I'm not sure why you'd feel sick. If you are lactose intolerant, than the drug Armour Thyroid could be used(no lactose in the pill). I felt awful when I had too much of Synthroid from a dosage increase. I'm still on it though. It just took time to get the right dose.(about a month or two to feel better) Please don't give up and see your doctor. You're symptoms are most likely from being hypo and you should treat it or you may eventually feel worse.
