Do hypothyroid medicines have some side effect? can one take it even if blood reports show no thyroid?
I had been taking 50 mg thyrox tab daily for 2-3 months, I felt good and energetic. now when I have left it for 3-4 months, I feel very tired, stressed and sleepy. I have a desk job. my blood reports are normal and show no hypothyroidism. I am also showing symptoms of hirutism. but nothing comes in reports. what do I do ? should I start my medicine again?

- There are different tests to check thyroid if you are borderline. Did your doctor tell you to stop taking med? It is my understanding that you have to take thyrox for rest of your life.
- For thyroid they should test TSH. Different doctors and labs may use a different normal range. The range they should use 0.3 to 3.0.
Also asked if they tested you testosterone levels. Maybe it is normal but on the high side.

Did you tell your doctor you took this medication before with no side effects and felt better ? If you start taking medication again you should do it with doctor's approval and get a blood test 6 weeks after starting it. After 6 weeks you should feel the full effect and your doctor can see if you are in the normal range, and check your heart.
Side effect to the medication is hyperthyroidism which includes heart palpitations.
