Is it realistic to take a holistic approach to a hypothyroid rather than taking synthetic hormones?

   I guess I am too lazy to take a holistic approach.
   
   Hormone replacement is a safe easy cheap effective simple way to control a hypo or hyper thyroid. I figure why bother with anything else. The downsides of hormones as used for the thyroid are minuscule and the judge is still out on a holistic approach.

3. There are "natural" thyroid meds like Armour that are often prescribed by Drs. The important thing is to see what happens to your TSH, T3. and T4 numbers when you take a "holistic" approach. If they get low and out of range, then "holistic" is not going to help you. Its very important to keep those numbers in the mid to upper ranges, whichever meds you decide to use.
