  1. when your TSH levels are normal with your thyroxine pills which you have to take for life you can go for pregnancy. your chances of having a normal pregnancy are high. the baby will have to be monitored for thyroid disease immediately at birth.
  2. I also have hypothyroid and I am pregnant with my second child. I haven't started meds yet but am being closely monitored. So I don't know much about the meds, but I do know that it only took one time of 'trying' for me to get pregnant b/c I knew what day I was most fertile.
Getting pregnant shouldn't be an issue for you b/c of the hypothyroid, but it is very important to make sure that you and the baby stay healthy. I would definitly talk to your doctor about this!
  3. Just make sure your TSH levels are normal. I have hypothyroidism and am pregnant with my second child. My Dr sends me for blood work every 6 weeks to check my levels. I was fine through my first pregnancy and am doing good so far with this pregnancy as well. As long as your levels are at a normal range, you should be OK. It is important to have them monitored throughout the pregnancy when you do become pregnant. Best of luck to you!!!
  4. That is a very difficult question to answer without having much more information. Thyroid function is essential to many processes in the body, including the menstrual cycle. If your only problem is hypothyroidism and iron deficiency the medication and vitamins should take care of your problems. You should consult with an obstetrician and discuss your concerns and complete a history and exam with this doctor to make sure you don't have any other problems. As long as everything checks out, your fertility should be similar to any other women of your age, assuming your hypothroidism has been adequately treated.
  5. consult doctor
