Anyone with hypothyroidism have no energy?
I have hypothyroidism and I have been on medication for about 8 months. While my thyroid levels have returned to normal, I still have absolutely no energy. I am so tired all the time. My MD said I was too young to be on a b12 supplement(I'm 22), but what else can I do? It gets really depressing to go for months without a day of feeling energetic.

- If your thyroid levels are now normal then it sounds like you could be anemic. There are other iron supplements besides B12. You should have a blood test called a CBC just to find out if your hemaglobin is low. Fatigue is a major symptom of hypothyroidism but you say your lab results are normal. There is human error in labs as well. I would ask for the Thyroid profile to be repeated. Also you could ask for a referral to an endocranologist who specializes in thyroid, diabetes hormones etc. as a last resort after you finish more blod work.
- I am a nurse with hypothyroidism.
- Most doctors "know nothing" when it comes to nutrition. The B vitamins work better when taken in cojunction with one another. B12 is not as effective as when it is taken with other B vitamins. You have several options you may want to consider.
One take a vitamin B complex. The problem with the B vitamins is they are mainy synthetic vitamins that do not seem to work as well as natural vitamins.
Two, take bee pollen. Bee pollen has the highest natural source of B vitamins. The problem with bee pollen is there is low quality bee pollen and high quality bee pollen. The way you tell high quality from low quality is by the coloring. The more diverse the coloring the better the quality. DO NOT use the capsules they are mostly fillers.
Three, take bee royal jelly. This product seems to work better for women than men. The problem with bee royal jelly is it tastes really bad. Also there is a lot of unscrupulous companies out there that "water down" the products to sell it cheap and increase profitability. DO NOT take the freeze dried, just like the bee pollen it is full of fillers and is basically worthless. You take the bee royal jelly by a spoon (most companies send you a little spoon that is the proper serving size.
Bee pollen is a bit chaulky so I will tell you how to make a smoothie. This recipe will take away the chaulky taste.
Blend 1 teaspoon bee pollen, 1 teaspoon raw honey, 2 cups vanilla soy milk, and ice. You will be very surprised at the energy you will have.
The bset quality of bee pollen is at beeroyalproducts.com. The best quality bee royal jelly available is from either beealive.com or beeroyalproducts.com. FYI Last I looked beealive does not offer be pollen.
sorry about the spelling my spell checker is not working and I am not going to go proof read this. lol
