Im so scared of the side effects of contraceptives that have hormones?

I am 5 feet and small frame, a friend of mine has similar dimensions, she took the pills that have the lowest dose of hormones and it affected her emotions so bad her husband eventually asked her to please stop taking them cause she was really irritable and unstandable.

  1. I also didn't want to contraceptive with hormones, so now I have a spiral (maybe its not the correct English word), you know the little thing they can place at the end of your womb.
You have 3 types, one with hormones, one with copper and the FLEXI-T, these last two don't have any hormones.
they put it there for 5 years and you don't feel anything.
    Ask your doctor.
  2. My thyroid now is in range, for some reason I just regained my health again, I am not in thyroid replacement therapy anymore cause I dont need it since my thyroid tests are in range.
  3. But I wont ever ever ever want to experience any type of hormonal hell.
  4. Are my fears on contraceptives a little exagerated?
  5. At age 18 my thyroid hormones became unbalanced and my character changed a lot, I was peaceful, contempt, easy to get along with, and I became irritable, I would get angry over every little thing, I was just another person, it was hell. This is the reason I am sooooooo scared of any type of thing that could alter my hormones, I am terrified.
  6. I had very bad mood swings on one type of 'low dose' BC pills and it was terrible...I was near suicidal for one week every month. that was a 'triphasal' type of BC pill, I switched to a 'monophasal' type of BC pill (always be sure to use back up contraception when switching pills) and felt much much better...its not unreasonable to not want to be at the mercy of hormone swings...many women dont. You can always use condoms.
