Can Hyperthyroid symptoms sometimes make u think your having a heart related issue?

I have thyroid cancer and am on suppressive therapy and my TSH is real low (<0.006) and my free T4 is 2.2H. I have been having all the symptoms of hyperthyroidism which leads to panic attacks which then I get tense in my cheast area and think I am having a heart attack. I also have been getting bouts of consectutive heart palpitations, breathlessness , panicky, shakey, and severe dry eyes.

  1. I had hyperthyroidism, and yes, this totally happened to me- except...
my TSH was less than .001 and my Free T was 29!
I think you're way too well within the "typical" range... but everyone's an individual.
    What's your usual Free T?
I'd go by fluctuation, not by level...
    good luck!
  2. Absolutely hyperthyroid can make you think that. You need to find a good ENDOCRINOLOGIST.
Hyperthyroidism may be one problem that you and your doctor know about but, there may be other hormone problems going on too. Thyroid problems are also called Autoimmune disorders. There are many types of autoimmune problems, "diabetes is a common one." But this is something for the specialist to deal with as the endocrine system is extremely complicated.
  3. Yes, hyperthyroidism can give you heart palpitations and make you anxious and agitated. When you are hyperthyroid, you have a lot of thyroid hormone being produced. Thyroid hormone controls your metabolism, so if you have a lot of hormone you will have high metabolism

Hyperthyroidism increases your sympathetic nervous system activity, which is responsible for your an increased heart rate and feelings of anxiety and shakiness.

But if you are on suppessive therapy for thyroid cancer, I don't know why you have hyperthyroidism. You should go see your doctor.
  4. ya, hyperthyroidism can mimic heart attack. Panicattack, sweating, tachycardia, ches discomfort all are symptoms of hyperthyroidism
  5. Hypothyroidism brings with it a multitude of complications. Some of the most common
symptoms linked to hypothyroidism are subsequently delineated:
    • Cardiovascular Change
Individuals with hypothyroidism generally exhibit a low pulse in the range of 60
b.p.m. or less and, in prolonged cases, cholesterol levels begin to compound as a
result of poor metabolic regulation and exercise. The combination of these two
factors aggravates the coronary arteries and puts the cardiovascular system under
a great deal of stress. In extreme cases, the compositional muscle fibers of the
heart will weaken, resulting in cardiac arrest and death

BETTER YOU TAKE IMMEDIATE OPINION FROM A CARDIOLOGIST.
  6. Yes it can. I have papillary thyroid cancer at 30 I have a rare advanced case but the outcome is still very very good. What you are experiencing will get better over time. The endo makes sure that your Free T4 does not go over the allowable amount while supressing the TSH. Your dry eyes could be a side effect of RAI, I got dry and and dry mouth, I take meds for it now. I have a free support group if you are interested, the members here can also tell you if they had any probs too. The site addy is below there is a US and Canadian site we are currently working on a LID cookbook too that is free for members
