Thyroid medication and calcium?
I take cytomel and also take a calcium supplement at a different time of day. does anyone know the correlation between thyroid levels and calcium? also for awhile I thought that I did notice a difference with slight weight loss taking calcium. any one else?

- I have never heard of a relationship between thyroid function and calcium, when dealing with hypothyroidism. Your calcium levels correlate with your parathyroid glands, but this is unrelated to hypothyroidism. Calcium will impair your body's ability to absorb Cytomel, so its good to see you taking it at separate intervals.
- When you are taking a prescribed medication you should always let the Doctor know who prescribes the medication if you are taking any other medication even if it is a mineral or vitamin supplement. Only they can tell you if it's contraindicated. Peace!
