- Most lab ranges tell you that up to 5.5 with the TSH is OK. If you were 4.9 or 3.5 that is a concern and even if you were above 2 it is something you should not take lightly. You should take a thyroid hormone medication if your TSH was above 2 for sure. This will help you to increase your T3. You can take the commonly prescribed Synthroid or others like that and check your labwork in 3 months to see if it did the trick. You probably have to do this for life - but do not worry about that - just ensure that your numbers are good and you FEEL good. Feeling good is more important than your numbers and many doctors fail to see this! If your numbers do not improve in 3 months and ongoingly you might want to add T3 to your Synthroid. If that still does not help - there are other thyroid hormones like Armour which helped many people who were feeling lousy on the synthetics. If you catch this early - you can manage it much better than if you let it escalate higher. The body needs thyroid hormone, in fact all our cells do every day to complete important metabolic processes. Left untreated will result in you further deteriorating in health, general well being, and your numbers will get worse. Leaving it untreated can be fatal too. It sounds like you are hypothyroid, but I do not know your TSH result so I am guessing on that. Do your research, get a medicine that helps and a doctor that works with you. Good luck to you!
- TSH and T4 results are in normal parameters while my T3 result is below normal(low).
- What does it mean?
- Do you happen to know what the TSH was? If it's over 2.0 with a low T3 then you are hypothyroid. Make sure if you go thyroid medication that it's a T4/T3 med. Most thyroid meds are only T4.
- I'd be very glad if you could help.Thanks...
- Does it mean I have hypothyroid or hyperthyroid?
