My thyroid is swollen, yet my TSH, T3 and T4 are normal?I was diagnosed with hypothyroid about 5 years ago, and at my recent blood test, everything was normal. I still have symptoms, and my throat is constantly swollen to the point where I feel like I can't breathe. My doctor has set up an ultrasound appointment for me. I'm afraid it might be cancer. has anyone else gone through this, and what happened?
Thyroid - Free T4 blood test interpretation.?Anyone shed any light on this? After some recent blood tests to ascertain thyroid function, my doc told me everything was normal, so I forgot all about it. However, I've since looked into what the normal ranges are for the tests she did, and now I'm a bit concerned about something.
Thyroid question?the doc told me that my thyroid hormone is a little higher than norm. free T3 was 3.83Pg/dl which is about 0.3 above the higher end of the norm. free T4 was 1.62 which is just 0.02 above the higher end of the norm. my TSH level was normal and it was 2.75UIU/ml. I am wondering what could cause slightly higher free T3 level and TSH still staying in the normal range. I have symptoms that could be associated with high thyroid hormone. My heart beat feel so fast after a little excersise and shortness of breath appear at the same time with fast heart beat. its hard to sleep sometimes when the symptom appears. This is very bothering me and I wonder if anyone have some idea what should I do to cure these and what could be the cause. Because my heart beat sometimes is very uncomfortable and it makes me anxicious. I really would like to be fine like before.
What natural alternative for thyroid?I had a goiter when I was 12 and I believe they did a partial thyroidectomy. For the past eleven yrs. I've developed itcy skin on various parts of my body, PMS, heavier bleeding during periods, depression, fatigue and also diagnoised w/GERD and take aciphex. Mostly the itching has bothered me in the vaginal area. I went to a PMS clinic where they tested me (blood) and said my T3 level was low. What can I take for this condition? Or what does anyone w/these sort of symtoms recommend. I've been to many doctors and they seem to be experimenting on me rather than finding the root cause of this itching.
Does fatty liver condition contribute to low thyroid function?if t4 has to be converted to t3 by the liver does fatty liver pose a problem?

What are the symptoms of an abnormal thyroid? I know nothing about this, but was recently diagnosed with it.?I got the results of my blood work and there are a couple of things that bother me. For one, my CO2 is at 32.6, which is high, my TSH level is 5.551, which seems high, my Total T3 is 178.0, which is high and my PTH, intact is 74.1, which seems extremely high. The doctor started me on Synthroid and will check the blood work again in 1 month. I have not talked with the doctor since I got the results back, but will see him next week. I don't want to wait that long to find some answers! I know nothing about any of this, including what the symptoms are. The reason I am asking this kind of stupid question is that I have another disease called RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) and I don't know what symptoms may be common for both of the diseases. I asked somewhat of this same question before, but I didn't include very much of the facts and I didn't ask what the symptoms are, which I need to know! Someone please help me!
HOw long does it take for Hypothyroid meds to take effect and lower TSH levels?I am curious to know if anyone else has been throught he up and downs of thyroid meds? I started at 11. something and got down to 3.something recently I started feeling bad so I got my labs done came back it had gone up to 5.21! How could it go up and down like that? He incresed my Armour to 2 grains. I still feel like crap! I feel like I did when I started except for the freezing in bed under the covers! But I am so TIRED again weight gain is awful, depression, muscle twitchs, pain! I have been adjusting meds since last August! And it is still not right! Has anyone else gone throught his. I started with Synthroid but it made me too shakey and I could not sleep then I went to Armour, I do not have any side effects from Armour and because it has both T3 and T4 I heard it was better. I am at a loss, how could I be getting worse and my meds are higher then they were when I felt good? Also I was taking Standard process vitamins for adrenal function and my husband says I felt better then?
Does T3 hormone increase your appetite?I am currently taking Armour to treat Thyroid disorder and my appetite is stronger than it has ever been. I want to eat constantly, am always thinking about food (because I am always hungry). My TSH was 1.3 and total T3/T4 were way under the range (drs didn't test free for some reason). I have never been this obsessed with food and it is driving me nuts - I have been trying to have lots of self control, but it is hard - have gained 3 pounds so far.
Why are these hormones important to the maintenance of homeostasis?I'm doing the gland thyroid and parathyroid. The hormones are... t4, t3, calcitonin, and parathryroid hormone. Why are these hormones important to the maintenance of homeostasis?
What is the difference between iodide and iodine? which is beneficial for goiter?thyroid follicles take up iodide to form t3 and t4 but iodine blocks the formation of t3 and t4?
Aside from T3, T4 and Calcitonin, what hormone does the thyroid gland produce?I'm being asked by my teacher... It's a make or break question that I have to answer tomorrow. It's for my graduation this coming March 25!!!
Incompetant Doctors... What should I do?In Oct06 I went to the doctor feeling because my hair was falling out. Blood tests showed I was anemic.

How do I read my Thyroid Levels? .. Something is seriously wrong, what could it be?I went to the doctor in Sept. to have a thyroid test done. I have all the symptoms, yet they say my numbers are normal. I know that they recently changed the normal ranges to 0.3-3.04, and I was wondering how my numbers fit into that category, I'm not sure how to read them

Am having thyroid. here are my test report values. am worried.can anyone help me out with details.?T3- 4.12
Thyroid question?'The primary function of the thyroid is production of the hormones thyroxine (T4), triiodothyronine (T3), and calcitonin. Up to 80% of the T4 is converted to T3 by peripheral organs such as the liver, kidney and spleen. T3 is about ten times more active than T4[1].'

Has anyone taken cytomel (T3) to help with weight control/loss who does not have a thyroid condition?I am overweight and must lose weight for career reasons. I was blasting off pounds however I am struggling a little currently. I believe this is becuase I am not putting on enough muscle mass to up my maintains cals so cal restriction has fewer benifits and working out is not quite as productive. Recently several people have recommed Cytomel (T3) to me as a way of pushing past my current plateau. It is a thyroid hormone. The recommendation is 25 mg for 4 days, 50 mg for another 4 day, then 75 mg for 5 weeks then a cycle down after that. Has anyone done this....? What happened?

"Borderline" hyperthyroidism: is it real? And how can I help myself? My Dr. won't?I just posted a Question on how I have a lot of hypoglycemia-type symptoms if I skip a meal, yet any time I have my blood sugar (glucose) tested, even after a 12-14 hour fast, the glucose is 100% NORMAL. I'm hoping some folks have insights on that. Now another question...
Has anyone switched their thyroid medication from levothyroxine to amour or added a t3 and had better results?I've been on levothyroxine for almost 3 years, at 100mg...they say my levels are where they should be, but I just don't feel "right" not to mention the tough time I'm having losing weight, despite legitimate efforts...I have an appt tomorrow and I wanted to discuss "armour" or any others people have tried with better results... I'd appreciate any experience with these anyone has had....
What is the comparison between Thyrolar and Levoxyl?I was taking thyrolar 2gr for over 35 years until the pharmaceutical company stopped making it about 1 1/2 years ago. Doctor switched me to Levoxyl 88mcg. I don't feel the same. I've gained weight without changing eating or activity habits. My skin and hair are drier. I feel tired more easily. I am 70 years old if that matters. My doctor says blood tests results show that my thyroid is functioning normally, but something feels different and I don't think they are testing both the T3 and T4. Should they be? Do the two thyroid medications work differently?

Any Doctors birth control and thyroid?Any Doctors could REALLY HELP right now :) If you look at my previous questions you can see I am bleeding constantly. My thyroid came out as T4 which I believe is overactive. I am taking ovcon 35 2 times a day and the only time it stops (the bleeding) is when I take another pill and it will stop for a few hours because it overlapsthe dosage and makes it a lot stonger. A couple hours after its back to tons of blood and clotting. My doctor said shes waiting for results on my thyriod, but im afraid if I take something for my thyriod, it will make me gain a lot of weight. Not to mention that if I wanted to stop bleeding all together I would probably have to take 3 or 4 birth control pills a day! I dont get it. Before birth control I never had a period. I had secondary amenorrhea. Whats going on im sooo frustrated :( :(
