Serious answers only !! Missing menstrual cycle, not pregnant?Hi, I am 27 had my first child (via c-section)10 months ago, breast fed for the first two months. I have not had a period since october, I am not pregnant, and I have had my thyroid checked and it is fine. I have had very light spotting, and I mean very light, almost non exhistant. I had my annual today, but the doctor (PA) didn't know what was wrong. I was wondering if anyone else might know what could be going on.
Thyroid Disease In Children? My 4 year old daughter has over the last year, experienced a great deal of hair loss. Her hair has slowly thinned out. Someone suggested that she might have problems with her thyroid, so I researched it online. She also has some of the other symptoms, like constipation and fatique. However she doesn't have a problem with being overweight, she is actually underweight and has a hard time putting on weight. I have asked her doctor, but she didn't think that was the problem. Should I get a second opinion? If you have any helpful information that would also be great.
Can you still have children with an thyroid disorder ?Someone told me that If I get pregnant that the child will be born physically and/or handicapped . Is this true ?

What are my treatment options for hashimoto's disease?I have Hashimoto's disease and was told today by my endocrinologist that my body will ultimately "kill" my thyroid. Until it does, I have no treatment options! I have so many symptoms associated with hypothyroidism and am desperate for some type of relief! I have gained 30 + lbs, am constantly tired and don't menstruate regularly (I am a newlywed and would like to have children within the next couple of years), etc. I was told the "death" of my thyroid could take years and the thought of continuing in my current state for what would feel like an eternity is devastating, please help!
I never have any physical energy, and it's not my thyroid what else could it be?I am 20 years old, with a toddler and an infant and although that sounds like a daunting job, honestly I really don't do much. I get up and get them whatever it is that they want or need but most of the day they are satisfied to just play together or with toys, and I sit on the couch and get can't seem to get motivated no matter what I do. I eat relatively healthy, (no fast food) although I don't consume more than 1800 calories a day because I know I won't even use that much in a day. I can barely even get out of bed in the morning. I've tried going to bed earlier, going to bed later, using caffeine, getting my thyroid checked by the doctor several times, taking a daily vitamin, everything I can think of and I just can't seem to get any energy to do anything. Doesn't help that I'm overweight from having children and don't have the energy to work out either. HELP!
How can I stop"Divine Strake"the 700 ton bomb set to go off in Nevada? How will I know my voice' ll be heard? Some people "answered" my question earlier, I guess, but what can one person or a small group do to stop this? Yes, you are right! 700 tons is too much to carry! It has to be hauled in and by the time you get it to the enemy, they've high tailed it to Dearborn ,Michigan. (Some "Bunker Buster" right?) Yes, it is 700 tons. Look it up on line. I just want to know, how can we stop this madness? I am not a "Chicken Little" as one person rudely commented. The govt. told westerners in Utah, Idaho, Arizona and Nevada (et. al.) that nuclear tests were safe 40 and 50 years ago and there is a whole generation of men who cannot father children here in the west. There were children that looked like monsters at birth, women with thyroid problems that could only come from radioactive poisoning, people who died from unusual illnesses that only result from nuclear bombs. This 700 ton blast will stir up all that old sand. Look it up at thespectrum.com and do a search on "Divine Strake."

Why do parents feed their children fast food like McD's and Burger King more than 1x a week?I know we're all busy. I'm a full-time single mom of two but we don't eat there. I cook, I make myself feed them right b/c I love them enough to get my *** up.
Living With My Wife and her Bipolar. Anyone have experience living with a spouce who has bipolar.?My wife has Bipolar Disorder, thyroid condition and an Eating Disorder. At times you can imagine how difficult things can be in our home. We have a wonderful and bright three year old. Twice now my wife has had an “episode” leading her to believing she’s being drugged, starved, abused and that “they’- meaning the world, have a conspiracy against her. On both occasions the outcome of her delusions has led her to believe that I was the “bad guy”. She has a long history of blaming nearly everyone close to her of doing the above mentioned things to her. The last episode led her to filing for a divorce, making false allegations against me in an effort to take our child from my care. The Courts didn’t fall for it for long. I have sole decision making and primary guardianship of our child. A year later we decided that we could make another go of our relationship. My wife is in treatment and on medication. My question is: Can anyone offer advice for a Dad juggling responsibility. Our child is first and foremost, my wife second and Dad last when possible. My wife is still cycling about every four to six weeks and is now leaving our home at odd hours of the night and coming home around bar closing time. In the past she caused disturbances during her manic cycle. Now she leaves. I love my wife guys. I don’t know how to handle these issues. She weighs about 100lbs dripping wet.
What's your opinion on this?At the store, a grandmother was walking with her 2ish This child had one of those bigass bottles of *MOUNTAIN DEW.* This child was what I would consider grossly obese. There was no shape to her face, her belly was indistinguishable from her chest, her arms looked like sausages coming out of this little t-shirt she had on, and when she walked her thighs never separated - and she walked with the classic "obese person's walk" - you know, with the legs below the knees splayed apart from each other.

What can you tell us about hypothyroidism in children? My one year old grandson has just been diagnosed with thyroid disorder. He has an underactive thyroid. Luckily it was discovered before any complications arose, as this can be very serious in young children. No one we know has ever heard of such a young child being diagnosed with this disorder. We would appreciate comments or information from anyone who knows of a similar situation.

Thyroid issues, do they get in the way of conceiving? When I did my Radioactive Iodine treatment in the early 1990's, the dr. said to us that I will never be able to concieve (I went from hyperthyroidism to hypothyroidism). Well, todays doctors say if I am having periods, then I should be able to have a child. We have been married for 17 years and still we have not had a child of our own.
How long can someone live who is diagnosed with thyroid cancer?I have a dear friend diagnosed with papillary cancer of the thyroid. She had a surgery already and will undergo other treatments in the future. My friend is still in her early 30's and has children. She is a very optimistic gal and lives life to the fullest. But somehow, I am concerned for her. I don't know how long she will have to live (as in the case of other cancer patients) and would want to spend more qualtiy time with her and make up for the times that were lost.

Diabetes, Low Thyroid, Insulin Resistance & Metabolism?I was diagnosed with "real" (not gestational) diabetes about 3 wks ago. I am 33, 14 weeks pregnant with our 2nd child and the symptoms are making no sense. According to my daily test numbers I am actually hypoglycemic and when I got my thyroid levels back, those are out of whack (1st # is normal, but low and 2nd # is REALLY low). I am 5'4" and weigh about 119 lbs, which is my usual weight. Can hyperthyroidism can insulin resistance and screw up the 3 hr glucose test that I did which is why the CNM stated that I am diabetic? And since I have always been hyper, nervous and small of size, would this be a red-flag for the thyroid? Not seeking real medical advice, just trying to organize my thoughts for the first High-Risk OB appointment tomorrow. Any other questions I should ask? PLEASE point out any thing else I should ask about!!
My TSH level is 12.87, I got put on sythroid, how do I know it's not thyroid cancer? My dr. did not run any other blood test (he's my GP). He says I do not need to go to an endocrinologist. How do I know the level is n ot from a thyroid cancer? I'm 38, female, have had 3 children. I'm a bit paranoid because my brother in law (no blood relation) is my age and has thyroid cancer.
I went to the doctor and found out I had a underactive thyroid (hypo) what do they do to treat it?My doctor sent me to a specialist and I have a appt. this week to go about it, has anyone had this problem?I have a lump in my throat and the right side which is the thyroid it is swelling, so I am just wondering if you know what they will do about it. The doctor told me I will have to take medication for it the rest of my life. I am a 23 year old female and I am also borderline anemic. I weigh 98 pounds, which I have always been small all my life. I have a 3 year old, and I still haven't gainned any weight from having a child. I am under alot of stress adn the doctor to ld me I have a rapid heartbeat also, so I don't know if that has to do with you stress or with the thyroid. I am really worried as to what they will do. Please if anyone has delt with a hyp underactive thyroid before please tell me as to what you had to do to treat it. thanks!
Has anyone had problems with their thyroid & what kind of questions should I ask my doctor?I'm going to see a specialist soon regarding my thyroid. My OB/GYN has been monitoring the gland for a year now. My youngest child (I have 3) is 19 mo and I'm 40 yrs old. Menopause comes somewhat early in my family as well. I've been having problems w/ my period for a while & feeling tired all the time. My GYN said that tests showed that my thyroid is producing what my body needs but is working too hard to do it. My sister had 1/2 of hers removed in 2005. What should I make sure I discuss w/ my doctor? Please share your experiences with me.
Over Active Thyroid?my partner has just had radio iodine treatment for an over active thyroid, we have two children (1 and 6), he is not allowed to see the kids for three weeks, I was just wondering if anyone has had this treatment and if so how long did you have to stay away from people and young children for ?
Has anyone that has a thyroid disorder had a child with a metal and/or physical disability? My grandmother is concerned that if I concieve , the child will be born with an disability of some kind. She saw a girl on tv that was not able to hold her child because she was born without arms. The girl said that it was because her mother had a thyroid disorder. I believe that if God wants me to have a child that is disabled , than he will give me this special child no matter what. God would never give me anything that I could not handle. Thanks for all of your answers.
What can I do to realine my hormons without taking persciption medication?I have tried eveyrthing to lose weight after my child was born and can't seem to lose a single pound. all roads lead to my thyroid but my insurance is out of commision and I can't aford the testing and perscriptions. I just want to lose thes pesky 30lbs that wont go away after it litterly showed up over night. the doctors said it would just go away the same way it came and well I waited for a while then tried dieting and extersizing everyday for at least an hour at the gmy sometimes longer and sometimes burning more than I ate that day and still I got zero results. my eyebrows have been falling out, my skin is getting red and puffy, and I'm tired of hating my body because I miss my old clothing that I can't fit into. I think there is a fruit of herbal remedy that re-alines hormons when they become unbalanced but I don't remember what it was, so if someone could please help and let me know?

Here's my symptoms. I've been to doctors. What do you think?Depression, obsessed with appearance (especially my hair since it was chemically damaged), irregular periods (I've had my tubes tied with my last child), fatigued all the time, sleepy by 6:00 or 7:00 in the evening, light sleeper (wake at the slightest sound), psoriasis of scalp, allergies, and did I mention obsessed with my bad hair? - bleaching and a straightener broke it off and made it damaged so I now have extensions while it's growing out and don't even like those even though everyone else seems to. I've been tested for hormonal imbalance - some progesterone levels were low but when I got on extra progesterone, my bloatedness and depression seemed to get worse. I was also tested for thyroid problems - they said my levels were low but in the normal range. Should I be tested for Polycystic ovarian syndrome or something else?

Will I still be able to get pregnant......?The end on November 2006 my husband and I decided that we were to start to try having another child. I am 23 and he is 31 so this would be our last child and than I planned on getting my tubes tied. Dec 4th 06 I was due to get my period - which I did not get. I am now almot 4 months late. I have been to several regular & gyn dr apps. Turns out that I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) with a possibility of Endometriosis n hypothyroidism with a lump on my thyroid all can be reason for me not getting my period. My gyn put me on Provera 10mg for 10 days and said I should get my period with 5 days after taking my last pill. She also has me starting a low dose birth control, to help keep me regular. My question with everything that I just found out, will there be a chance that I can get pregnant naturally or will I need to take something to help me keep pregnant?

What are the risks of having Thyroid problems during pregnancy? Some body I know is early in a pregnancy and just found out she has thyroid problems. What are the risks involved for the child? How severe are they?
Did anyone pregnant with Under-active thyroid disease?Find that they put on more weight than the average person during their pregnancy? My first two children were born before I developed this condition so with them I put on about a stone and a half with both.I never got any heavier than 9 stone with each of them but this time Im 8 weeks pregnant and 11 stone before Ive even begun to gain pregnancy weight. I am treated for my thyroid with 150mg of thyroxine daily.I know my levels are most likely to need adjusting whilst pregnant (they have already risen now) but im just worried about excessive weight gain as us people with thyroid disease dont find it easy to loose it because of our slow metabolism!!
Am I able to have children?I have abnormal periods and by that I mean that I have my period maybe one to three times a year. My husband and I desperately want to have children and have been trying for over two years with no results. I have been to the doctor and they can't seem to figure out what the problem could be. They just know that there is nothing wrong with my thyroid and that my uterus is fine. When I was younger I was put on birth control. I stopped after two years. It has been about four years since then. Has anyone out there had something like this happen to them before? If so, were you able to concieve? I appreciate any answers. Thank you.

Can a person born without a thyroid pass the problem on to future generations ?They found out I had no thyroid when I was two years old (extremly rare) because I was having seizures and my teeth weren't coming in. Many, many tests were taken on me.. The Doctors called me a Miricle. The Doctors said I'd never have kids but somehow I was given the Miricle of children. So far in their twenties my kids seem to be alright but put weight on easy. They have been tested. I wonder if it is possible for them or their children to have problems down the line.
Is my throid stopping me from having a baby?I'v been trying for a baby now for 5yrs now, I fall pregnant then miscarry before reaching 8 weeks, getting me down as happens at least twice a year, doctors no help, just saying she has no children & maybe thats the way it should be, need help as now 40 & no children. I read a book called understanding thyroid disorders that mentioned could have problems maintaining a pregnancy, if so, has anyone got any suggestions, or maybe a doctor who deals with thyroid can help.
Can elevated Troponin levels be related to Thyroid or Infertility problems?I often feel fatigued and seem to have a low energy level. This happens a few times a week. I usually have to take prometrium to have a period or I have to be on a birth control pill just to be regular. My first child had to be conceived with clomid. I can go six+ months with no period, if it isn't medicine induced. I have never been told that I have a thyroid problem, but I know that I have irregular periods and infertility issues. Can this cause heart damage or elevated troponin levels?

Is "consensus science" always correct? For instance, "consensus scientific opinion" in the U.S. right now seems to favor the notion that water fluoridation is "safe and effective." Yet, back in the early 1940's the "consensus opinion" from the medical community, including the American Dental Association, was that fluoride was a poison, and that laws should be enacted to remove as much of it as possible from our food and water supplies. So what changed? The latest report from the NRC (a research arm of the National Academy of Sciences) is now saying as little as 4 parts per million of the stuff can cause thyroid problems, osteoarthritis, and possibly even osteosarcoma in male children, if consumed over a long period of time. In other words, it looks like the pendulum is swinging back to the notion that fluoridation is NOT "safe and effective" after all. Other substances like leaded gasoline, ddt, and most recently Celebrex, have also fallen by the wayside. So why do the media still invoke "consensus science" so often?
