Growing thyroid nodule that was previously ruled benign.?I have a right side thyroid nodule that was discovered in 2004 through routine MRI for multiple sclerosis (which I have). Over the past 8 months the nodule continues to grow and I have become increasingly more hoarse in my voice, have some swallowing issues (which I thought may have been related to MS) and have some bad neck pain on the right side of the neck (which I thought was MS, too).

How long should a newborn sleep all day and for how many hours?My son will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. He only wakes up three times a night, but he sleeps all day long. Determining conception dates?Okay, I tried for 10 years to have a baby. I have thyroid disorder, and a couple of uterine complications, as it turns out. I ended up pregnant very much by surprise...I am estimated to be 14 weeks on Wednesday. Here is where I am confused though....It is said by doctor that baby was conceived in August...Here is the basic facts about August for me....I only had sex on two days in August, on Aug 4th and Aug 21. I had a strange, early period on Aug 9 that only lasted for 3 days. (Normal for me is 7 days). I have been told possibly conceived baby on the 4th not the 21st, as would be more likely. How does this work? How is this possible? What would be the chances baby was conceived prior to the early period? And what is the accuracy that the doctor could possibly know for sure? Have had two ultrasounds, and they still question it...Any way to know for certain?

High thyroglobulin level?Recently, I had a thyroid biopsy on my thyroid nodule and was lucky enough to find no cancer cells present. However, my thyroglobulin level is very high, 679 ng/mL compared to the normal range of 2.0 - 35 ng/mL. I know that other conidtions also cause elevated thyroglobulin level. But a level that is almost 20 times higher that normal makes me worry. Could experts on thyroid disease give me some advices? Thank you very much in advance.

Hair texture change?I'm 51 years old and just got off a ton of prescrription drugs and HAD a hyperactive thyroid but in FIVE weeks my hair went from normal, beautiful, medium texture to baby fine, limp hair that is nothing like what my normal hair is/was. What the heck happened to me. How could my whole head of hair change due to anything in 5 weeks? Diabetes and Your Thyroid?We all know that diabetes and thyroid disorders are both endocrine diseases and frequently autoimmune. Is it common for type 1s to also develop thyroid problems? I saw my endo yesterday and while everything was just fine (office blood sugar was 114 and I use a pump), my doctor took notice of my enlarged thyroid (something I never noticed). He asked me if I had gained some weight and I told him I had gained about 7 pounds in the last 6 weeks and my doctor also saw that my skin was really dry.

I have 1 thyroid gland left now I have 3 on the other one.?I had one gland removed because of a nodule now over a period of 6 months they have found 3 more nodules on my remaining gland. They want me to see a specialist. We all know what that means. The nodules don't bother me at all like my other one did. Is it really necessary to remove my remaining gland. They are benign at least the other one was.
Can my remaining thyroid be stimulated to work without medicine after half has been surgically removed?Half of my thyroid was taken out to remove a benign nodule which had made me hyperthyroid. It has been six weeks since the surgery. My TSH level is now at 9 (hypothyroid) and I'm supposed to start taking Synthroid. My daughter's weight keeps going up, need answers?My daughter has gained like 18 pounds since November. The doctor checked her for a thyroid disorder and found nothing. She eats healthy, not much junk food and no sugary drinks. Any ideas on why she keeps gaining weight, what could be causing it and what can I do. What kind of risk am I taking by not having a thyroid lobectomy to diagnose a nodule?I have a solitary large thyroid nodule in my left thyroid. It measures 4cmx3cmx2cm, roughly, and takes up almost the entire lobe. I have had an ultrasound which reveals that it is homogenous, and vascular, but not much else. I have also had an FNA, which was non-diagnostic. The next step is a lobectomy to check for cancer. I am a singer and do not want to risk damage to the nerves of my vocal chords just on the chance that it may be cancer if it is an unnecessary risk. My doctor said his father was a tenor, and he had his thyroid removed. He said he never really sang the same after. If I went through with it, couldn't sing the same, and it was benign, it would kill me. I would sure appreciate some advice from those who have either undergone the procedure or know enough about it to give me an opinion. Thank you.
I am too skinny! I want to gain weight!?heyy. . .im 5'3 && weigh 93 lbs and hateee it. I spent the day with my friend & found out that I eat more in a day than her & shes 5'4 and 118 lbs! What is the growth rate of a thyoid nodule?I was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule about a year ago. Since that time I have had several tests including a biopsy which came out fine. The thyroid nodule measured at 1.3 cm in Sept. 2005 when the first ultrasound was performed. I had a follow up ultrasound done today that measured it at 2.6 cm. Hyperthyroid or Severe Depression/Personality disorder?I was being checked out for hyperthyriodism once my first blood test ran. I have a TSH of 0.3%. And losing wieght rapidly, and other sever symptoms. I then had a ultrasound in which they found a 7mm large complex nodule in my right lobe...followed by a 6mm lesion, a 3 mm cyst, and multiple 3-8mm size complex nodules found throughout my thyroid..Now I have a nuculer scan too, but they found no hot or cold nodules. When I saw a endocrinologists he said he didnt think I had hyperthyroidism at all, and my thyroid is normal, and that I had a personality disorder and severe depression. He also said that my symptoms are real, but they are classic text book symptoms of depression(not really, cuz I looked it up). But doesnt hyperthyroidism cause depression or anxiety? Im confused about all this because I have had 3 radiologists and a family doctor tell me thier impression was hyperthyroidism and this endo has prescribed me a psyciatryst. Any doctors out there have a second opinion?

Do you know anyone who took Radioactive Iodine for Thyroid Cancer and had to stay away from all other humans?My ex-wife had her Thyroid removed and they found cancerous nodules on it. As a result, she has to take Radioactive Iodine in order to kill off any thyroid tissue that may be left. While on the treatment, she may not go within five feet of anyone who still has their thyroids, otherwise theirs could also be destroyed. I've never heard of this. Is any familiar with this?

I think I am going through some hormonal changes (I.e no periods for a while and then heavey at times) and I had thyroid problems too. Bipolar Disorder? General doc. made new diagnosis without telling me?I have bipolar disorder. I sometimes hear voices when I'm manic or depressed. I haven't been manic or depressed lately, pretty stable. Two weeks ago, I had a visual hallucination. I saw maggots all over my living/kitchen and they were eating my dead cat-She's alive in real life-I called my doc and left a message with his nurse. I had to reschedule an appt. w/ a new psych. b/c they had no info on me after I waited a mth. and a half to see him, they lost info on me. I went to my gen. doc. to tell him what happened. He put me on 80mg of Geodon and 200mg of Lamictal, that's all I'm taking along w/ thyroid horm. He said what happened to me was an "episode". On the med. form that u give to the receptionist, "acute psychosis" and the presc. had "for BAD/Schizo Affective Disorder". Who knows what this means? Did he change my diagnosis w/out telling me? This episode scared my husband. I was screaming at him to kill the maggots. He didn't know what to do. Call 911 if this happens again?Advice?

What do you do for restless leg syndrome and periodic limb movement disorder. Also have Fibromyalgia.?I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 11 years ago. Prior to that I was diagnosed with Hashmotos hypothyroidism, an auto-immune disease attacking the thyroid. 3 years ago, when trying to DC a med for Fibromyalgia, I learned that I had developed Essential Tremors. Now I've moved on to Restless Leg and Periodic Limb movement disorder. I'm dealing with the central nervous system here, and wonder if I don't have Chronic Lyme, although all tests have been negative. I grew up in the woods of a lyme infested area of PA. I'm dealing with it all, but the lack of sleep associated with Fibromyalgia and the waking from periodic limb movement disorder and minor Sleep Apnea are reaking havoc with my life. I noticed that I have another lump (nodule) in my neck due to hypothyroidism. Do you guys think that this could be a reason I can't get pregnant. Or could it be that I am pregnant and the thyroid problems are causing the hcg levels to increase slowly? I don't know what it could be, but everyone's opinion is greatly appreciated.

Bipolar Disorder? General doc. made new diagnosis without telling me?I have bipolar disorder. I sometimes hear voices when I'm manic or depressed. I haven't been manic or depressed lately, pretty stable. Two weeks ago, I had a visual hallucination. I saw maggots all over my living/kitchen and they were eating my dead cat-She's alive in real life-I called my doc and left a message with his nurse. I had to reschedule an appt. w/ a new psych. b/c they had no info on me after I waited a mth. and a half to see him, they lost info on me. I went to my gen. doc. to tell him what happened. He put me on 80mg of Geodon and 200mg of Lamictal, that's all I'm taking along w/ thyroid horm. He said what happened to me was an "episode". On the med. form that u give to the receptionist, "acute psychosis" and the presc. had "for BAD/Schizo Affective Disorder". Who knows what this means? Did he change my diagnosis w/out telling me? This episode scared my husband. I was screaming at him to kill the maggots. He didn't know what to do. Call 911 if this happens again?Advice?
I recently found out that I may have a thyroid disorder. Has anyone lost weight after medication?Over the last 8 or 9 months I have been gaining a little more weight than I ever have before. At about the same time my cycle got a little messed up too. I went to see my doctor and my thyroid screening came back abnormal. I have read that having thyroid problems can slow down and almost shut off a body's metabolism, so I'm thinking this would explain my recent weight problems and inability to lost the weight. I was wondering if anyone who has a thyroid problem but is on medication has had similar weight issues and after the medication was able to lose the weight? how quickly did your body's metabolism bounce back after medication? I'm not too worried about my weight and am just happy to know what is wrong with me. I was just curious if anyone has any personal experience on thyroid medication and weight loss.
Second Thyroid Nodule?I had half of my thyroid removed in Sept.04. There was a large cyst and a solid component to the nodule (benign). About 3 months later I was diagnosed as hypothyroid. Got on some Levothyroxine, and I seem to be doing okay....can't loose weight to save my life though.....
I have recently had my left lobe of my thyroid removed does this create any ongoing problems?I recently had surgery for a total throidectomy but during the surgery my surgeon only decided to remove the left lobe as the nodules on the right side (that were seen on the ultrasound) were not isible in surgery. Does anyone know if there are any problems caused by just removing one lobe and what is the likely hood that the right lobe will need to be removed in the future?
How is life for athletes without their thyroid gland and on replacement thyroxine?My doctor recommends that I have my thyroid gland removed because of a benign but large cold nodule. I am physically very active and I am worried that the replacement thyroxine will make me tired and that it may have other side effects too. Anyone out there who has undergone through thyroid surgery before?
Recently a nodule of 8 mm has been found on my left breast, it is also painful...,.I had a scan, any advice?Some of the 'experts' have said to leave it alone, but others have said it should be investigated, a similiar size one was seen on my right breast on the IRM. It's painful enough to wake me up at night. I also have nodules at the moment on my thyroid which have to be removed.

Is it anxiety or is there really something wrong?I have been having heart palpitations for about 9 months now. I have a thyroid disorder, and my medication has been adjusted. I have worn a 24 hr holter moniter and had an echocardiogram. The results came back as having a fast heart rate. That's it. But I can't shake the feeling that something is wrong. My heart starts to beat fast when I am watching tv, after I get out of bed...at times when I don't think I am having a panic attack, but how do I know? Are there foods that can trigger palpitations? I have cut back on caffeinated beverages and try to eat healthy. What should I do?
Has anyone has a pituitary mass removed and then had thyroid problems after?I had a large pituitary mass removed in early May. My surgery was successful but 1 week and 2 days after surgery, I hemorraged out of my nose and mouth and lost 3 pints of blood. It has been 8 weeks and I am feeling somewhat better. I am still staying tired and I cannot hear good and my eyesight is blurry, but my main concern is, the Dr. found a pretty large nodule in my thyroid. I have been hoarse and my neck has been very sore, almost like I have been sleeping on it wrong, except my pain does not go away. Also, I have not been snacking or eating unhealthy but I have gained 15 lbs in a month and a half. I had an ultrasound of my thyroid earlier today and they were suposed to take blood but after 9 tries by 3 people, they could not get a vein to produce...Please help me. I am so stressed

Has anyone ever heard of a thyroid condition termed "Wilson's Syndrome"?I was discussing symptoms my mother was experiencing and someone mentioned this disorder. It differs from one known as Wilson's Disease and is less frequently diagnosed. Some of the symptoms included extreme fatigue, trouble swallowing off and on, depression, and more I don't remember.
