I have a sensation of something being stuck in my throat. There is also light mucus that I am always clearing?I have no other symptoms. I have been feeling this for about 4 weeks now. I have thyroid nodules that have never caused me a problem and it feels higher up in my throat than where my thyroid is.My voice hasn't changed and my throat isn't sore. just an annoying feeling of like a piece of food stuck in my throat.

Recently a nodule of 8 mm has been found on my left breast, it is also painful...,.I had a scan, any advice? Some of the 'experts' have said to leave it alone, but others have said it should be investigated, a similiar size one was seen on my right breast on the IRM. It's painful enough to wake me up at night. I also have nodules at the moment on my thyroid which have to be removed.

Do you know anyone who took Radioactive Iodine for Thyroid Cancer and had to stay away from all other humans? My ex-wife had her Thyroid removed and they found cancerous nodules on it. As a result, she has to take Radioactive Iodine in order to kill off any thyroid tissue that may be left. While on the treatment, she may not go within five feet of anyone who still has their thyroids, otherwise theirs could also be destroyed. I've never heard of this. Is any familiar with this?

What are some reasons why I might be gaining weight even though I go to the gym?I don't want wise cracks or one liners. If I eat right and exercise 45 min. a day and varied between cardio and weights, I should lose weight. I know about nutrition, etc. and have been to a dietician. I'm just wondering what are some possible other posibilities for gaining weight unnatually besides a thyroid disorder.

What is the growth rate of a thyoid nodule?I was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule about a year ago. Since that time I have had several tests including a biopsy which came out fine. The thyroid nodule measured at 1.3 cm in Sept. 2005 when the first ultrasound was performed. I had a follow up ultrasound done today that measured it at 2.6 cm. I am taking synthroid for a underactive thyroid which should also be suppressing the growth of the nodule as well. I was just wondering if the growth rate is common or not?

Could the biopsy for thyroid cancer be wrong?I had a FNA biopsy for a nodule on thyroid which came back as Papillary Cancer. I am scheduled for a TT next week! But the nodule has shrunk in size via ultrasound, No longer able to feel from outside as in begginning and I don't have a lump when I swallow anymore. Could the biopsy be wrong? What would you do? Would you have the TT?

Thyroid Question?I had a thyroid uptake scan and they found a nodule on the right side. Blood tests were in the normal range but I have a constant pressure in my throat. They want me to have an ultrasound. Is there cause for concern? The radiologist looked at the scan and didn't seem to be to concerned. I don't have a family doctor b/c of no insurance so this is all going through the hospital without a specific doctor. I also have bean shaped lumps on each side of the back of my neck witch have been tender latley. What should I do?

Has anyone had this before ?I am guessing I am about 1 1/2 months pregnant. My thyroid disorder always makes me about 1 1/2 to 2 months late, so this is a big guess. Since it is Sunday, I do not have anyone to call and ask. Has anyone had this before , only being about 1 1/2 months pregnant ? How serious is a bladder infection while you are pregnant ? Should I make an appt. for tommorow, or will I be okay until Thursday ? I know its long. Thanks everyone.

How is life for athletes without their thyroid gland and on replacement thyroxine? My doctor recommends that I have my thyroid gland removed because of a benign but large cold nodule. I am physically very active and I am worried that the replacement thyroxine will make me tired and that it may have other side effects too. Anyone out there who has undergone through thyroid surgery before?

Diabetes and Your Thyroid? We all know that diabetes and thyroid disorders are both endocrine diseases and frequently autoimmune. Is it common for type 1s to also develop thyroid problems? I saw my endo yesterday and while everything was just fine (office blood sugar was 114 and I use a pump), my doctor took notice of my enlarged thyroid (something I never noticed). He asked me if I had gained some weight and I told him I had gained about 7 pounds in the last 6 weeks and my doctor also saw that my skin was really dry.

What causes one person to urinate more than another? My friends and I are pretty much the same in height/weight. We ran a test by drinking 2.5 liters of water each, in a 24 hour period; no caffeine, similar amounts of food, no exercise.

THYROID test results *** need help understanding?I recently went in for a physical and due to an enlarged thyroid my doc suggested a thyroid ultrascan and a TSH blood test. The scan found some nodules in my thyroid and the blood test found my TSH levels to be high. (some websites say that it can be up to 5 and still be normal, but my test results said 0.34-2.50 UIU/mL were normal range) My result was 2.53. He explained that having a high TSH level means that my thyroid is producing the hormones but the nodules were more than likely blocking them from being released and that was the explanation for the high result (that's how I understood it at least) I do have an appointment this week to take a little pill and 24 hours later go in for another scan of the thyroid and to determine what needs to be done with the nodules. But here's my question...

Hair Loss...Help!!?Ever since I gave birth to my daughter 7 months ago I have lost so much hair. Every time I wash and condition my hair, it just comes out like crazy. I roll it into a ball as a size of a golf ball. I wash my hair every other day and hate to too because I freak out. At first my doctor said it could be my hormones, and then when my blood work came back everything was normal, when she checked my thyroid on my 6 week check up, that was fine. What else could it be? Currently I went to GNC and bought some Biotin shampoo and conditioner and some vitamins and it's still not working. My doctor still has me on prenatal as well. The only thing that has changed is I have been diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder....which my hair loss causes even more stress. I don't know what to do, if you have any suggestions, please help me out. I need some encouragement or some other answers.

Can my remaining thyroid be stimulated to work without medicine after half has been surgically removed?Half of my thyroid was taken out to remove a benign nodule which had made me hyperthyroid. It has been six weeks since the surgery. My TSH level is now at 9 (hypothyroid) and I'm supposed to start taking Synthroid. I was hoping the remaining half of my thyroid would start to work so that I could avoid taking medication. Has anyone had luck with this? What steps did you take?

Misdiagnosis.....do I need an attorney?Over a year ago, I went to my doctor about a chronic cough at night which sounded like I had Croupe. I had already been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and had been on medication for 2 years. He told me my cough was acid reflux and prescribed Prilosec. It didn't work. I saw him again this spring, still complaing of the cough and now wheezing along with a swollen gland. The diagnosis for the swolled gland was a viral infection. The wheezing was allergy induced asthma and the cough still acid reflux. He gave me an inhaler and told me to try a different over the counter antacid. I started retaining fluid and the cough worsened. I still have the swollen gland. I saw the nurse practioner who stated the same thing as the doctor, I'm sure after reading his notes. I finally convinced her on a 2nd visit to do an ultrasound of my thyroid. I have a nodule and now have to have a biopsy. It could be cancer, as I have all the symptoms. Should I get an attorney?

Determining conception dates?Okay, I tried for 10 years to have a baby. I have thyroid disorder, and a couple of uterine complications, as it turns out. I ended up pregnant very much by surprise...I am estimated to be 14 weeks on Wednesday. Here is where I am confused though....It is said by doctor that baby was conceived in August...Here is the basic facts about August for me....I only had sex on two days in August, on Aug 4th and Aug 21. I had a strange, early period on Aug 9 that only lasted for 3 days. (Normal for me is 7 days). I have been told possibly conceived baby on the 4th not the 21st, as would be more likely. How does this work? How is this possible? What would be the chances baby was conceived prior to the early period? And what is the accuracy that the doctor could possibly know for sure? Have had two ultrasounds, and they still question it...Any way to know for certain?

How can you tell if you have thyroid disorders?I've had vitiligo for two years and I read about how it's linked to thyroid disorders. I'm not sure of these are symptoms but I've always felt I had a weird metabolism. I get skinny real easily when I'm not trying to eat as much as I can.

Does anyone know of any online resources for failure to thrive or growth disorder in infants? My son has been under the 3rd percentile for his weight since he was about 4 months old. He's now 15 months. I'm working with his pediatrician to try to find out the reason for this. He's on dietary supplements even (a soy "pediasure" due to diarreah/vomiting with milk products. He was breastfed as a young infant so we didn't know about the milk allergy until after he was one). He's been tested for cystic fibrosis and some other things with his thyroid. Those were negative but it did show that he had some sort of anemia. I'm looking for some scholastic resources that I can pass along to his doctor in the hopes that we can get him into a normal weight range. Thank you in advance for your help.

What do you do for restless leg syndrome and periodic limb movement disorder. Also have Fibromyalgia.?I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 11 years ago. Prior to that I was diagnosed with Hashmotos hypothyroidism, an auto-immune disease attacking the thyroid. 3 years ago, when trying to DC a med for Fibromyalgia, I learned that I had developed Essential Tremors. Now I've moved on to Restless Leg and Periodic Limb movement disorder. I'm dealing with the central nervous system here, and wonder if I don't have Chronic Lyme, although all tests have been negative. I grew up in the woods of a lyme infested area of PA. I'm dealing with it all, but the lack of sleep associated with Fibromyalgia and the waking from periodic limb movement disorder and minor Sleep Apnea are reaking havoc with my life. Anybody out there dealing with the same mess? I'm all ears.

Problems gaining weight?Sorry but this is more of an answer. I read a post about someone having problems gaining weight, and one of the replies was 'be lucky you have that kind of a body". I just wanted to say that I also struggle to gain weight, and it's an embarrassing thing, being thin and having people look at you like you have an eating disorder. I have done a lot of research on this issue and talked to my physician, and found that the best way to gain weight is to simply increase your calorie intake by about 500 calories per day, and do weight training to build muscle. It's actually very unhealthy to be underweight, just as it to be overweight. It can cause serious health problems. So if anyone has this problem, maybe talk to your doctor first it could be a thyroid problem. Just thought I'd comment, sorry that it's not a question.

I even had a blood pregnancy test done and it was negative. About 9 years ago I had been having some thyroid problems but everything was fine up until now. I noticed that I have another lump (nodule) in my neck due to hypothyroidism. Do you guys think that this could be a reason I can't get pregnant. Or could it be that I am pregnant and the thyroid problems are causing the hcg levels to increase slowly? I don't know what it could be, but everyone's opinion is greatly appreciated.

If someone answers my question and includes a question in it, can I answer.?someone answered my question about iodine in salt and my goiter.Wanted to know if goiters are "coming back". There are fewer now because of the iodine put in salt. However, my .dr said they run in families. btw, they aren't called goiters anymore by drs. They are nodules on the thyroid.

High thyroglobulin level?Recently, I had a thyroid biopsy on my thyroid nodule and was lucky enough to find no cancer cells present. However, my thyroglobulin level is very high, 679 ng/mL compared to the normal range of 2.0 - 35 ng/mL. I know that other conidtions also cause elevated thyroglobulin level. But a level that is almost 20 times higher that normal makes me worry. Could experts on thyroid disease give me some advices? Thank you very much in advance.

5 year old with a thyroid disorder?I took my 5 year old to the doctor 2 weeks ago because she had a fever that kept popping up and was extremely tired, the doctor tested her for strep, flu, UTI, and mono..turns out it was a UTI. I took her in yesterday and the doc said she wanted to test her thyroid that it could be part of the reason shes always so tired. They said the test wont be back for a week. What would it mean if she did have an underactive thyroid, I know that it does run in my family but I dont know anything about it. Id appreciate any advice. Thanks

Hair texture change?I'm 51 years old and just got off a ton of prescrription drugs and HAD a hyperactive thyroid but in FIVE weeks my hair went from normal, beautiful, medium texture to baby fine, limp hair that is nothing like what my normal hair is/was. What the heck happened to me. How could my whole head of hair change due to anything in 5 weeks? Isn't your hair "dead" after it leaves your head so that it couldn't change my whole head of hair because of getting off drugs or thyroid disorder? I didn't use anything on my hair different and menopause wouldn't change ALL of my hair! I need advise and HELP - will my hair be this kind of hair forever -? I have to wet it down every day because its texture is totally different, how could this happen? Anybody experience this?

Is it anxiety or is there really something wrong?I have been having heart palpitations for about 9 months now. I have a thyroid disorder, and my medication has been adjusted. I have worn a 24 hr holter moniter and had an echocardiogram. The results came back as having a fast heart rate. That's it. But I can't shake the feeling that something is wrong. My heart starts to beat fast when I am watching tv, after I get out of bed...at times when I don't think I am having a panic attack, but how do I know? Are there foods that can trigger palpitations? I have cut back on caffeinated beverages and try to eat healthy. What should I do?
