Thyroid "shot" in my male cat?Took my 10 year old male cat to vet today because it looked as though he was breathing rather shallow and I noticed he had been losing weight rapidly. Vet examined and said breathing was okay...just more "noticable" due to 4 pound weight loss. Temp was fine, everyhting else seemed okay too. Vet said his last blood work from May 06 had elevated thyroid readings and at this point vet thinks his thyroid is shot. He will have blood work result on Wednesday and has put him on a daily pill. If that doesn't work he will adjust the meds as needed. My question is...I have never heard of a cat having a thyroid problem. Anyone have any experience with this? I've had cats all my life - this is a first!

Underactive Thyroid for a 14 year old male?I went to the doctors about a week ago, because I was tired of being so fat. I never had any energy at all, barely enough to get out of bed and go to school. I finally decided to go to the doctors and see about a diet. I had to get a blood test done, and supposily they told me that one of my thyroid hormones are working, and the other one is all weird, and like doesn't work. They're not going to put me on the pills for it yet, because they want me to have an ultrasound done on my thyroid first. I'm really scared. Will I stay fat forever? I thought I was fat because I eat so much, and I have been fat (not just 10-20 lbs overweight) since I was around 3 years old.. (I had pheumonia when I was 2, and it seemed after I got over it I started to get a huge appitite)..

Thyroid cancer?I was diagnosed with pappillary thyroid cancer with a follicular varient in November 2006. They removed 1/2 of the thyroid for the biopsy then the remainder after they determined it was cancer. They then did I-131 my doctor is wanting me to become hyperthyroid. He want's my TSH .003, They have increased my Synthroid steadily over the last few months. I am now on 150 mcg. I am now starting to gain weight and am extremely tired. I called my doctor today and he told me there isn't anything he can do until I have been on the synthyroid for 4 weeks. He said this could be due to another condition, that I would need to contact my pcp for this. I think this has to do with my thyroid. Has anyone had this happen? I gained about 10lbs in the last 2 weeks.

Thyroid gland?I can feel like a swollen gland in my throat, right where my thyroid is. I'm going to the doctor friday for something else and I'll ask him but I was wondering if you all had any info. my neck isn't swollen from the outside, my thyroid, by touch, feels the same on both sides (not particulary swollen like a goiter) and the feeling is on the right side. I can feel it when I swallow sometimes or when my head is bent down. just a small pressure, no pain. the thing is, I've felt this before, a few weeks ago but it went away. Thyroid disease symptoms?I have been having a feeling as though something is stuck in the left side of my throat, around my tonsil, for about two months. Also, from time to time, the pain will radiate down the left side of my throat to the top of my chest just below my thyroid and around my collarbone. Occasionally if even hurts under my left ear and a little into my head. I took a round of amoxicillin about a month ago b/c the doctor suspected strep but it did nothing. Thyroid Cancer -problem with Thyca Groups?I am in my late 30's male and diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I tryed to join a group named Thyca and was denied membership, no one will tell me why. I joined their other group, Thycamental Challenges and was in there for about a day and was banned too. Is anyone else having problems joining this group?
Thyroid problem?I am an 18 year old male that is usually in very good health. I exercise regularly and am in good shape. But in the past few months I have noticed I've been having very random and drastic mood swings and have been eating alot more. Thyroid trouble runs in my family. Could this be the case for me or is this just typical teenager stuff? And any suggestions on how to counter act each for whatever it may be?

Only ppl who has been diagnosed with a thyroid problem or has a family member with one?I am getting my thyroid checked tomorrow, I looked up the symptoms for a thyroid problem and I have most of them 2 symptoms that especially relate to me is unnormal bowel problems, genetic thyroid problems, and not being able to loose or gain weight. Like I said anyone who answers this pls tell me what yall symptoms were and if you are medication has it helped you and how? and any other advice you would like to give me thank you be specific pls
Thyroid question and weight gain?I've gained about 25-30 pounds in less than a year. I am extremely unhappy about it. The last time I had my thyroid checked was last summer and it was fine. Is it time to get it checked again? Can my thyroid develop a problem in merely few months?

Thyroid "shot" in my male cat?Took my 10 year old male cat to vet today because it looked as though he was breathing rather shallow and I noticed he had been losing weight rapidly. Vet examined and said breathing was okay...just more "noticable" due to 4 pound weight loss. Temp was fine, everyhting else seemed okay too. Vet said his last blood work from May 06 had elevated thyroid readings and at this point vet thinks his thyroid is shot. He will have blood work result on Wednesday and has put him on a daily pill. If that doesn't work he will adjust the meds as needed. My question is...I have never heard of a cat having a thyroid problem. Anyone have any experience with this? I've had cats all my life - this is a first!

Thyroid cancer?I was diagnosed with pappillary thyroid cancer with a follicular varient in November 2006. They removed 1/2 of the thyroid for the biopsy then the remainder after they determined it was cancer. They then did I-131 my doctor is wanting me to become hyperthyroid. He want's my TSH .003, They have increased my Synthroid steadily over the last few months. I am now on 150 mcg. I am now starting to gain weight and am extremely tired. I called my doctor today and he told me there isn't anything he can do until I have been on the synthyroid for 4 weeks. He said this could be due to another condition, that I would need to contact my pcp for this. I think this has to do with my thyroid. Has anyone had this happen? I gained about 10lbs in the last 2 weeks.
